MARILINGO offers mentoring aid for students in year 6 - 9 (secondary school in the British school system) and the Swedish gymnasiet (Sixth form college in the British system) studying Swedish as a second language at SOFIA DISTANS and HERMODS DISTANSGYMNASIUM.
Sofia Distans is a distance learning school for Swedish children living abroad, and is following the curricula and syllabus set by the Swedish National Agency for Education. Sofia Distans functions as a normal school, but all work is completed online via the learning platform Canvas.
Sofia Distans is grade-eligible, and your child will receive grades twice a year (December and June). When your child finishes year 9, he/she will receive a final grade, which means that he/she can enrol in Swedish as a second language at gymnasiet (upper secondary), which may lead to eligibility to apply for Swedish University courses where Swedish, or Swedish as a second language, in most cases, is a requirement.
When studying at SOFIA DISTANS, your child will have their own class and subject teacher, and MARILINGO will act as a mentor by guiding the students through the different tasks, as well as checking that the tasks are handed in by their deadlines.
Once the studies in the compulsory school system (Sofia Distans) have come to an end, the students have the opportunity to continue into Hermods Distansgymnasium, which is equivalent to the British Sixth Form College. After three years of studying Swedish as a Second Language, the students have achieved a grade which will make them eligible to apply to Swedish Universities.

"As a parent I can see a clear progress and improvement in their Swedish, despite the fact they have very limited possibilities of interaction in Swedish language in Poland. Both kids, or rather teenagers, are very fond of Maria. She’s very easy to get along with and to cooperate with, even from a parent’s point of view."
