"As a young, German-speaking couple, we moved to the Swedish North more than ten years ago for professional reasons. During this time, our children were born, and naturally grew up immersed in Swedish culture and language, be it daycare or friends. When the whole family, kids being still at young age, then moved to Germany again, we became aware that Swedish and Sweden had become an integral part of our family; and we decided to embrace it. Ever since, we have put a lot of efforts into keeping up our children's bilingual abilities, least to facilitate a borderless access to their birth country, should the desire or necessity arise one day.
After good but temporary help by local Swedish natives, we are extremely happy we have found Maria as our ally in this mission now. Her incredible positivity and eagerness to hook onto our children’s’ changing interests motivates them week by week. Being at sea half of the year it would be difficult for me to act as a tutor, not to mention my vague skills as a teacher, a task Maria smoothly and efficiently handled just after 1 year with our kids. It must be pointed out that our kids never had Swedish lessons before I “found” Maria.
Our daughter is now in 8th grade at Sofia. Our son completed 9th, and now he continues his Swedish at Hermods Gymnasium, both are still under Marias supervision and tutoring.
As a parent I can see a clear progress and improvement in their Swedish, despite the fact they have very limited possibilities of interaction in Swedish language in Poland. Both kids, or rather teenagers, are very fond of Maria. She’s very easy to get along with and to cooperate with, even from a parent’s point of view.
Can’t nothing but recommend Maria as Swedish teacher, and/or tutor for the Swedish school program at “Sofia Distans”.
